Preschool/Pre-K
3-5 years of age
The Preschool/Pre-K program at the Novato Youth Center uses creative, theme-driven curriculum that aligns with California Preschool and Early Education Standards. We focus on language development, social skills, math, music and movement, science and nature, cultural studies, gross and fine motor skills, nutrition, art, and dramatic play. We frequently have guest visitors and take local field trips to expose children to the rich resources and beauty of the local Marin County community.
Our room has a staff/child ratio of 1 to 8 and consists of five main areas: literacy, dramatic play, manipulatives, blocks, and discovery. Adjacent to the classroom is a large, age-appropriate playground for outdoor play.
Every day the children engage in both self- and teacher-directed activities in a safe, nurturing environment in which we provide a variety of opportunities for children to experiment, explore, and succeed. All activities are designed to prepare children to enter school healthy and ready to learn.
Family engagement is a priority to us.
